Welcome. This is a dedicated page for updates and development of BOOK TWO - Guitar Note Reading Course for Beginners. The preparation and writing of book two is now underway and will be made available by the end of February 2025.

The second part of Book One was completed today. In my closing comments, I mentioned that this blog will list some of the extra content to be included in Book Two. Here's a short list of some of the expected items/topics to be covered:

The Bass and Treble String "Pinch"

This is where Bass and Treble notes sound together at the same time

A rework of two familiar tunes with bass note accompaniment

New versions of Study in A Minor and Waltz Petite will show you how easy it is to 

add open bass notes and fill out your sound with additional volume and tone.

Scales and Key Signatures

Scales will be introduced in their shortest forms of 1-5-1, from the lowest starting note
(root note) to the highest, 5th interval note in an ascending/descending pattern.

Example:   C, D, E, F, G, F, E, D and C

Keys and Key Signatures will be explained fully to prepare you

for playing the complete music selection for book two.  

A further progression in Right Hand technique

The 3rd. Ring Finger will be added to be used alongside the 

Index and Middle fingers you are already using.

An introduction to playing with a plectrum will also be part of the
right hand technique presented in book two.
